Slight Decline in Mortgage Rates According to Zillow

The average interest rate of a 30-yar fixed-rate mortgage is 4.08%, according to Zillow Mortgage Rate Ticker data presented on September 30th 2014. It dropped down by 5 percentage points from the previous week when it was 4.13%.
The average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage in California is the same as the national average – 4.08%. It declined by 5 percentage points from 4.13% during the same week of 2013. The average 30-year fixed mortgage rates in Illinois and Massachusetts are slightly above the average for the country – 4.10% and 4.09% respectively. They experienced a major decline of 12 percentage points on an annual basis. During the same week last year they were 4.22% and 4.21% respectively.

The average 30-year fixed mortgage rate is New York is one of the highest. It is currently 4.18%. It is 9 percentage points lower than a year ago, however. During the same week of 2013 it was 4.27%.

The average rate on a 30-year fixed home loan in Florida is slightly below the national average. It is 4.07%. It experienced a decline of 5 percentage points on an annual basis. One year ago it was 4.13%. The average rate on this type of mortgage in Texas is 4.06%. It went down by 4 percentage points in one year. During the same week of 2013, it was 4.11%.

The average 30-year fixed mortgage rates in New Jersey and Colorado are currently 4.05%. They experienced an annual decline of 5 and 1 percentage points respectively. Pennsylvania has one of the lowest average interest rates on this type of home loan in the United States. It is currently 4.03%. It experienced a decline of 7 percentage points from 4.10% one year ago.
The average interest rate on a 15-year fixed rate mortgage is currently 3.18% according to Zillow while the average rate on a 5-year adjustable rate mortgage is 2.95%.
