Getting A Mortgage Is Getting Much Easier

Getting a home mortgage is getting much easier today. Just in the past month, April 2014, home loans have been on the rise. In the past few years we have seen many changes in the home mortgage industry. We have seen rates fall to a low of 3%. The mortgage rates continue to go back and forth, up and down and now hover right at 4.5%. So why is it easier to get a mortgage now?

The first thing is that mortgage bankers are demanding less money up front. In the past, the rule was that you had to put 20% down. Today, the amount of down payment money and percentage has lowered on home mortgages. The average has dropped to almost 15% now. That is easier to come up with and could be the difference in getting the new home mortgage or not. Less money down has played a big role in mortgages being easier to obtain.

Another main factor that is contributing to more home mortgages is the loosened lending guidelines that bankers are placing on applicants. The mortgage bankers are giving loans out to applicants with lower credit scores. Applicants who in the past were afraid to even go sign up for a loan or look for a new home, are now out and looking. Not only are they looking, they are getting approved. These methods proved to be terrible choices by the banks just a few years ago but things have changed a bit in the past few years. The home loan market has been on a roller coaster ride and now seems to be back on the way up. If you are in the market for a home loan in 2014, now might be the best time to find a new home and get a mortgage. Forecasters say the mortgage rates will continue to increase. Get one while they are low.
